Massage relaxes baby and  stimulates the immune system.  It is an excellent way to help congested babies as the specific action of massaging the chest, back and sinuses helps clear congestion. The Baby nose-clear organic massage oil is gentle on baby's delicate skin and is  naturally calming, de-congesting and antibacterial. For best results use as part of the Baby nose-clear Bedtime Routine which includes first suctioning the nose with the award winning Nasal Aspirator and using  Room Vapour.

Baby massage for relieving baby nasal congestion

  1. Ensure the room is warm with subdued lighting and prepare the area with a warm towel as babies quickly feel cold. You may choose to have soft music in the background. Exclude distractions such as the television or telephone.
  2. For newborn babies you may choose to sit on the floor with your back supported against a wall and the baby on a padded area in front of you. Or you may choose to have the baby on your lap, or the bed or a table top, wherever baby is warm and secure and the area is safe.
  3. Warm the oil first by rubbing a little between your palms.
  4. Gently place both hands on the centre of the chest and massage out to the side. Relax and gently massage with a soft gentle upward flowing movement.
  5. Then lay baby on their back over your lap, with head and chest leaning downwards; very gently pat the front and sides of the chest with cupped hands.
  6. Next turn the baby onto his/her front and repeat the gentle patting with cupped hands over the back of the chest – this action helps to loosen any mucus

Safety advice:

  • DO NOT massage your baby’s spine, collar bone, front of neck or navel
  • Avoid the oil getting into your baby’s eyes
  • Wipe your baby’s hands after massage to prevent baby getting oil in their mouth
  • Do not massage if there is bruising or inflammation
  • If in doubt you should check with your Doctor
  • Before first use, patch test a little of the oil on the baby's back
