Carolyn's Story
"As a mother of premature triplet’s, born 13 weeks too early, baby care became paramount; 3 months on a neonatal ward opened my eyes to the technology that keeps prem babies alive. I knew though that my babies were in the best possible place. With expert medical attention, backed up with prayers and determination I knew the babies would ‘come through’ against all the odds, and I truly believe that this was due not only to the high tech machines monitoring them, but also due to the hospital suction aspirators which cleared out their nasal congestion.
As I prepared for their release from hospital, (three months after being born) I took no risks, I was used to hospital monitors checking their breathing, and aspirators clearing their congestion, so I went shopping for monitors, thermometers and baby alarms, yet it did not occur to me that I needed a nasal aspirator.
Shortly after coming home the triplets caught colds, and were congested, so I took medical advice, which involved everything from saline drops to rolling tissue up and swirling it around the nostril! Thinking back to the hospital suction aspirators, I went shopping for a nasal aspirator. I tried every type without success, so I designed one based on the hospital suction machine. It was quite simple, the most natural suction is that of a parent which is gentle and controlled. I put together an idea for an aspirator, then showed it to a Professor of Paediatrics who liked the idea and encouraged me to make them available to other parents. I duly did and now the Baby nose-clear is used by parents world wide."
